Stefan Biesdorf is one of the most prominent figures in healthcare digitisation in the German-speaking world. For 27 years he was with McKinsey & Company, most recently as a partner and head of the Digital Health Systems practice in Europe – a member of McKinsey Digital and Analytics, advising hospitals, medtech and pharma companies on digital strategy, data platforms and AI. Since 2026 he has been the founding managing director (CEO) of the Bavarian Health Cloud, Bavaria's state-backed health-data platform and a blueprint for the European Health Data Space.
His theme: turning health data into real value – for research, clinicians and patients, securely and at scale. A sought-after speaker (e.g. Worldwebforum, the Digital Health Innovation Forum at the Hasso Plattner Institute, DigiCareDay) and author of widely read studies, he translates complex technology into strategy.
